Overview
PrompterCam is designed with privacy as a core principle. The App runs entirely on your device: it does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to the developer, and it makes no network requests to any server controlled by the developer. Your scripts and recordings stay on your device.
1. Data Stored Locally
The following data is stored exclusively on your device:
- Scripts: Markdown files you create and edit inside a folder you choose. PrompterCam accesses that folder through a security-scoped bookmark stored locally.
- Video recordings: each take is saved as a video file inside the same folder as its script. Recordings are kept on device and managed from within the App.
- App preferences: your settings (reading speed, font size, camera position, microphone selection) stored in the device’s UserDefaults.
None of this data is transmitted to the developer or to any server.
2. Data Never Collected
The developer does not collect:
- Your name, email address, or any other identifying information.
- Usage analytics, crash reports, or telemetry of any kind.
- Location data.
- The contents of your scripts or recordings.
3. Camera and Microphone
With your permission, PrompterCam uses the camera to show a live preview and to record video, and the microphone to capture audio into your recordings. The microphone is also used, when you enable speech-based scrolling, to detect whether you are currently speaking.
4. Speech Recognition
If you enable speech-based scrolling, PrompterCam uses Apple’s Speech framework configured for on-device recognition only. Audio is analyzed locally to detect speech activity and is never sent to Apple’s or the developer’s servers. This feature is optional and its permission can be revoked at any time.
5. Files and Folder Access
PrompterCam reads your script files from, and writes your recordings to, the folder you select on your device or in Files/iCloud Drive, using a security-scoped bookmark. The developer has no access to this folder or its contents.
6. Recordings
Video recordings are saved as files in your selected folder, alongside the corresponding script. PrompterCam does not save recordings to your Photos library. You can play a recording back inside the App, or share it through the standard iOS share sheet, in which case you choose the recipient app (for example Files or Messages). The developer has no visibility into what you record or where you share it.
7. Third-Party Services and Network
PrompterCam contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no third-party tracking libraries. It relies only on Apple’s built-in frameworks (AVFoundation and Speech). If your selected folder lives in iCloud Drive, files stored there are governed by Apple’s iCloud terms and privacy policy.
8. Platforms
PrompterCam is an iOS app for iPhone and iPad.
9. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The updated policy will be available on this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
